Who are Dr Botanicals?

Dr Botanicals are a 100% natural UK skincare brand, who use no parabens.  Even better, they are completely cruelty-free and vegan-certified!  They are based in London and aim to combine a passion for plant based traditional thinking with the latest science.

Dr Botanicals use a lot of natural oils and plant extracts, as they believe these can make a genuine difference to the skin.  I really like that they use 100% natural ingredients.  It’s very easy to claim to be a ‘natural’ brand, however most don’t use entirely natural ingredients, as it can be more expensive and difficult to source.  There are no harmful preservatives in any of the Dr Botanicals products.

Mascara Match // Benefit Rollerlash v Primark Lash Defining Mascara // Can Budget Beat High-End?

Hi guys!  You may remember this recent post, where I pitched budget against high-end mascaras.  Well today is the next installment of Mascara Match!  Primark Volumising Ultra Black mascara beat Benefit Bad Gal Lash last time – can Primark win again?  Today, Primark’s Lash Defining Mascara is pitched against Benefit Rollerlash!  Let the battle commence…

Budget v High-End Makeup

It’s so easy to assume that if a product costs more, it must be better.  After trying out loads of different makeup products and brands over the years, I’ve realised that’s really not the case.  Some of my favourite products that I use every single time I wear makeup are budget (otherwise known as cheap)!  I rave on to anyone I know ‘in real life’ about how great Primark mascaras are, and that they must try them.  So it’s about time that I share the secret with you guys!

WHY MY MUM IS MY INSPIRATION // MOTHER’S DAY // RE-POST!

Hi guys!  I hope you’re having a lovely weekend.  If you’re in the UK, I hope you’re enjoying the spring sunshine that’s graced us this weekend 🙂  I love Mother’s Day as I am really close with my Mum and like the chance to spend a day spoiling her!  Don’t get me wrong, I buy her little gifts and tell her I love her all the time, but it’s nice to have a day all about her.

Mother’s Day 2017

I wanted to write another post about Mother’s Day this year but sadly I just haven’t had the chance.  My health has been pretty rubbish so I’ve just not been up to blogging much recently.  I know I’ve had a few posts go live recently, but they were written a little bit ago when I was feeling a bit better!

I’ve always had a close relationship with my Mum but as I’ve got older, we’ve got more and more close.  She is so generous and self-sacrificing.  Since I’ve been chronically ill, she has done SO much to help me – both practically and emotionally.  She often helps me wash and dry my hair; she comes to clean our house once a week (despite working full-time!) and even helps to wash our bedding and towels!  My Mum tries to take away as much stress and physical work as possible off me, so that I can concentrate on my health.  I appreciate everything she does more than I can say!

Why My Mum Is My Inspiration

So in celebration of Mother’s Day and all the wonderful, strong, inspiring women out there, I decided to re-post what I wrote last Mother’s Day.  It’s a post all about how my wonderful Mum is my inspiration!  Click here to read it.  I hope you enjoy it.  If you’re lucky enough to have a Mum today, let her know that you love and appreciate her!  And if you ARE a Mum, well done for all your sacrifice and hard work – you rock!

Over and out guys 😀

National Bed Month // Dr Botanicals Advanced Purifying Overnight Masque!

Hi guys, happy Friday!!  I hope you have something nice planned for this weekend.  If you’re a fellow spoonie and you’re stuck in bed, get cosy and watch lots of great films 😀  If you’re a regular reader, you may remember my exciting news: I’m a Dr Botanicals Brand Ambassador!  This means that they send me a different product each month to test, for me to review.  My reviews will always be honest, I’m not being paid for the posts or to say anything I don’t mean!  Last month’s super-luxurious product was the Moroccan Rose and Shea Body Cream – click on the name to read my review.  But more to the point, this month’s product is the Dr Botanicals Advanced Purifying Overnight Masque!

Exercise With Chronic Illness? Yes, You Can!

Hey guys!  I know, I know – the title might be a bit provocative.  But you know I suffer from M.E and fibromyalgia, so I understand how hard it is to ‘exercise with chronic illness’ (or even make it out of bed!)  As my M.E is moderate to sometimes severe, physical activity is often very difficult for me.  What this post is going to be about is how all of us with chronic illnesses can do something, it’s about finding what works for your personal level.

My Inspiration/Sponsored Post

One thing that inspired this post was the reaction I had to my recent Spoonie New Years Resolutions post.  Often posts like that are discouraging, as they aim way too high for my level of health and I just can’t relate. Hitting the gym 5 times a week?  I’d be happy to make it out of bed 5 times in a week!!  So many spoonies contacted me to say that they’d enjoyed my post as it was more relevant and relatable to them.  When Mobility Nationwide contacted me about their #AchievementForAll campaign, it was the perfect timing!

Inspired by the Rio Games last summer, Mobility Nationwide, who specialise in mobility vehicles, launched their campaign to encourage people of all levels into activity.  This times in perfectly with my own NYE resolution of re-starting hydrotherapy.  This post is sponsored by Mobility Nationwide, but all content, ideas and opinions are my own!

Exercise With Chronic Illness – What is Exercise?

The important part of this is defining what we mean by ‘exercise’.  Of course, most healthy people would class exercise as going for a run, hitting the gym or doing yoga.  That is often completely unachievable for spoonies (obviously depending on your level of fatigue or disability).  What I’m talking about here could more accurately be defined as ‘activity’.

My New Years Resolutions for 2017!

Hi guys – Happy New Year!  2016 has been a difficult year for a lot of people, so I really hope 2017 is much better for you if you’ve had a tough one 😀  I always used to make new years resolutions but stopped when I got ill, as the typical big challenges I used to set myself seemed completely unachievable.  I don’t know what has changed this time around, but I really felt like setting myself a few resolutions!  I think I’ve adapted to my chronic illnesses enough to know that I need to be realistic with my goals, and not set myself up to fail!

Glossybox October 2016 // Unboxing

Hi guys!  I’m sorry this is SO late!!  I mean it’s basically the last day of the month and I’m finally showing you the October 2016 Glossybox!  As you may have noticed, I’m not posting as regularly lately.

As you probably know, I have chronic illnesses (if you don’t, this will fill you in!)  I often simply don’t feel well enough to take photographs, edit or write a post.  It’s frustrating as I have so many things I’m dying to share with you, but there’s nothing I can do.  Sadly, my health has to come first.

As you’ve probably already seen the October Glossybox around, I’m not going to go into much detail.  I’ll just show you what I got, and tell you if anything particularly impressed me!
