My 3 Favourite Beauty Trends for 2017!

Hi guys!  How are you?  I hope you’re having a good week.  I recently received a really good e-book from Ellisons (which you can read here) and it got me thinking about my favourite beauty trends for 2017!  There are so many different trends and themes in makeup (usually beginning on the fashion catwalk and filtering down pretty quickly to Instagram!)

Beauty Trends for 2017

I have to say, I often see a beauty trend and think; “really?!”  I am pretty adventurous with my makeup and like to try lots of different colours and styles, but some trends are a little bit unwearable!

The ones that seem unwearable though, often end up getting used in a much more watered down version in real life.  I’ve never personally been that into the nude trend that has been around for over a year now.  The nude, neutral lipsticks just don’t appeal to me (and don’t really suit me!)  Give me a bright pink or purple lipstick any day!

Outfit of The Day (OOTD)

Happy Saturday guys!  I hope you all have a great weekend.

I went to Rare restaurant for my husband’s birthday last week and thought I would take the chance to do an OOTD for you.  I know it looks like I’m always up and dressed as that’s all you see blogged, but I spend the vast proportion of my time in bed in PJs, so I get quite excited when I get dressed up!

I wore a beautiful purple fitted dress which I picked up in the PDSA charity shop (I do love a good charity shop find!)  I think it is originally from M&S.  I teamed it with a long grey bead necklace and my Primark nude bow pumps.

Makeup was Estee Lauder Double Wear Light foundation (god I love this foundation!), No7 Damson blusher, MUA loose powder, bronzer for contouring, MUR highlighter, both of my Primark mascaras and two purple eyeshadows from my E.L.F palette, blended together.  My lipstick was Atomic “Make me Magnificent” from Make Up Revolution (MUR).

I used a donut ring to put my hair up into a voluminous bun, with a few pieces left down and curled.  I love this style as it takes 2 minutes but looks like you’ve spent longer on it.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Outfit of the Day (OOTD)

I went to Distrikt for my hubby’s birthday on the bank holiday Friday (see my post reviewing their tasty tapas!)  This is my OOTD for that day.  As always, definitely no fashionista over here, I’m just sharing my real life with you, random outfits and all.

I wore my “super high-waisted” black skinny jeans from Primark, a black vest top with two grey skulls on it (an Ebay buy, bought new but can’t remember where from) and my trusty black New Look jersey cardie (two of my friends have the same one and we always end up wearing it at the same time!).  If you like high-waisted jeans, I would recommend these Primarni ones, they are so comfy!!  I also wore my flat leopard print loafers with a gold bar across the front – they are from George but I bought them off a friend who is “selling her life” to move to the Seychelles; lucky her!

I accessorised with a gold chain, black cord and pearl collar necklace given to me by a friend.  I love this necklace, as it’s such a statement piece!  As it’s chilly here in England, I added my aubergine belted coat (another charity shop find and an absolute bargain – nearly new for just £12!).  I also cosied up in my aubergine Debenhams scarf and carried my George neon orange satchel.

Makeup was Estee Lauder DoubleWear Light foundation (a 10 use sample – I’m now addicted and need to own this!), MUA loose powder, No7 Damson blush, bronzer to contour, MUR gold highlighter, Eyeko eyeliner and both of my Primark mascaras (a layer of each).  My eyeshadow was from my HUGE E.L.F palette (more info to come soon)!  I did a base layer of Maybelline Pink Gold Color Tattoo, followed by a bronzey-gold shadow.  I took a coppery-red shadow up into and just above the crease to give a sort of sunrise effect!  It looked great in person but doesn’t convey that well in photos.  I finished off with a coat of nude Boe Beauty (Aussie brand) lipgloss.

What have you been wearing this week?  Any new makeup looks?

My very first OOTD (outfit of the day)!

NOW…. let me preface this post with the statement that I am absolutely not a “fashionista”.  I don’t usually follow trends, my shape often doesn’t suit what’s in fashion and I basically just dress how I want to.  I quite often throw on all the random bits I want to wear that day, realise they don’t match, and then wear them anyway.  I’m not proud, it’s just what happens!  There’s a running joke between my husband and I that I often end up looking like a bag lady 😀

OOTD 280315

My OOTD is actually ALL from Primark (yep, even my bra lol!)  The tshirt is from the mens section, as I love the fit of the mens Small tees.  Much nicer than women’s large, as I prefer a looser, less form-fitting look.  It was £3.

The jeans are high-waist distressed skinny jeans and were around £13.  They are lovely and stretchy and comfy.  I’m totally not a jeans person, I generally wear dresses, but I’m branching out!  The shoes were mentioned in my Primark haul post earlier today and cost £6. I then paired them with frilly lace topped ankle socks (see first para – so NOT a fashionista, but these socks made me happy!)  I also wore my Primark flower headband which my husband informs me looks “slightly special”.  Haha!  If, like me, you struggle to get to the shops, then you won’t be able to buy this Primark flower garland, as annoyingly Primark still don’t do online shopping.  Annoying!  However there are a couple of similar ones on Amazon that are just as cheap and really cute.  Have a look at this one and this one!

Makeup is No7 Beautifully Matte foundation, MUA loose powder, MUA bronzer, No7 Damson blush, Eyeko felt eyeliner, an old (L’Oreal I think?) eyeshadow under the eyes, Primark False Lash Effect mascara (first use, pretty impressed!) and MUA lipstick in Persian Rose.  Despite the rain, I was feeling bright today!  It’s not often I make it out of bed, so I thought I’d take the chance to do an OOTD whilst I could!  Hope you like it.
