On Sunday I wasn’t feeling too bad after a morning of rest, so I went along to the Victoria Quarter in Leeds, to see what their event “Spring Beauty Fix” was all about. I got a taxi there and back and couldn’t stay in town long due to my ME, but I was pleased that I managed to make it.
The “Spring Beauty Fix” event involved several small things happening within the beautiful Victoria Quarter shopping centre. There was a stand offering a free skin analysis (I will post about that at some point soon), discounts at many of the shops and concession stands, and also a makeup amnesty! For the amnesty you had to bring along 5 used products you no longer wanted, and swap them for a £10 voucher to spend in the VQ that day. I didn’t have any products to get rid of but the kind lady said they needed to use up the vouchers that day, so she gave me one anyway. This was handy as I had a few things I needed to buy whilst I was there.
Now, I have been procrastinating about a foundation purchase for a long time… basically, Estee Lauder Double Wear is my holy grail foundation. I was given a 10-use sample and have never found another foundation that works as well for me. The only reason I didn’t immediately buy it was its slightly hefty price tag! However after messing around with several foundations which didn’t work for me (a detailed post about that coming soon!), I finally decided to bite the bullet.
I headed along to Estee Lauder where I met a lovely woman (who asked about my blog, so if you are reading, hi!) She colour matched me and I purchased my Double Wear foundation and an eye serum. Due to buying two products, I qualified for a free gift, and I have to say the gift was pretty impressive! The woman who worked there was telling me the value of some of the products, and although I can’t remember specifically, the free gift is worth quite a lot of money.
It came in a lovely shoulder bag with a matching smaller makeup bag. It included:
- Re-Nutriv creme cleanser
- Re-Nutriv eye cream
- Re-Nutriv face cream
- Mascara (which will be going to my mum as it’s just not dramatic enough for me!)
- A nudey-brown lipstick (swatched below); and
- A beautiful gold palette containing eyeshadows and lipsticks.
This is the perfect chance for me to try some of their products without spending a fortune!
I also popped along to the MAC concession as I wanted a couple of lipsticks. I generally buy budget lip products as I think there are tons of good brands out there and you don’t need to spend a fortune. However my absolute favourite lipstick is from MAC (my only MAC lippie up until now). I searched everywhere for a vivid purple but the only true purple I could find was MAC Heroine, so I “invested” in it and never looked back!
I decided to grab a couple more shades that aren’t as easily available on the high-street. I chose Vegas Volt (the orangey one) and St Germain (the sixties pale pink) – both are Amplified Creme finishes. They feel really moisturising and are fairly buildable, for a more opaque look.
Here is me in my New Look flower crown (still loving flowers in my hair, even if hubby does think it looks “slightly special”!), wearing St Germain.
