Hi guys! If you haven’t already heard the amazing news, Colourpop now ship to the UK. All my pretty makeup dreams have come true 😀 You used to be able to use a shipping service to get their stuff here, but now they just ship direct. So of course that meant it was time for a Colourpop haul!
The shipping costs aren’t too bad. A little on the expensive side, but that’s pretty common when shipping from America to here. For everything I bought, the shipping came to $25 (around £18.50). The real kicker is when it comes to customs charges! Oh horrible, horrible customs charges!
We all know the feeling – you’ve got something exciting coming from abroad. Shipping cost a bit but you were willing to pay it to get hold of your goodies. And then bam! You’re hit by a customs charge, which takes you well over budget. If you don’t shop abroad often, it’s easy to forget that customs charges even exist. They’re so elusive – you may get one, you may not. There seems to be no pattern to what they check and what they slap charges on to!
My customs charge came to around £13 from memory. Ouch! Colourpop are actually a really affordable brand in the USA, but for us Brits, a lot more expensive with shipping and customs added on.
Colourpop Haul – The Products!
Ok, here’s what you’ve all been waiting for! The gratuitous makeup haul 🙂 I’d had most of these items on my wish list for a while, until I had some spare pennies. Lumiere 2 was the one I was absolutely dying to get my hands on. It looks like my perfect dusty mauve shade!
Ultra Satin Lips – $6
The Ultra Satin Lips apply like a liquid lipstick, but don’t completely dry down. They have a satin (somewhere between matte and glossy) finish and will smudge if you touch them. The benefit over matte lipstick is that these are much less drying, leaving the lips more hydrated.
Dopey: Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho, it’s off to the club you go in this dusty mauve.
Molly: You’ll be hugging all your friends in this mid- tone plum lilac.
Spritz: A lil spritz of this, a lil spritz of that… you’ll love this mid-tone true bubble gum pink.
Ultra Matte Lips – $6
The Ultra Matte Lips are traditional matte liquid lipsticks. Once applied, they completely dry down on the lips and won’t budge. You can eat and drink wearing these, with minimal smudging. They will make your lips feel a little dry.
Lumiere 2: Lumiere’s new sister (a dusty mauve pink, bold yet shy).
Cheap Thrills: $5 dollas will make you holla in this dusty lilac.
Colour Shock Eyeshadow – $5
Weenie: A pinky rose gold in a Pearlized finish.
Creme Gel Liner (Stick) – $5
Best O Liner: This deepened burgundy will make you feel reeeeallll good.
Overall Colourpop Haul Review
I pretty much love every single product! I already knew I loved Colourpop makeup, as I’ve bought some in the past (although hadn’t tried Ultra Satin Lips as they’re quite new). A lot of the lippies are similar colours, but I just can’t get enough of gorgeous, dusty mauves. They seem to suit me too! I should probably stop buying them now though.
The Ultra Satin Lips feel really nice and are just as opaque and vivid as the mattes. They are great for when your lips are feeling a bit too dry for a matte liquid lippie. They last pretty well, although some do wear away and crumble a little after several hours. Nothing too offputting. One thing to note about both of the lippie varieties is that they dry down much darker than the initial colour. When applying to the lips, they look like the colour in the tube. After about 10 minutes, once dry, they are quite a bit darker. Bear that in mind when choosing your shades!
The Weenie eyeshadow is beautiful, such a stunning colour! As with all Colourshock eyeshadows, keep them well sealed as they are a very moist formula which will crack if it dries out. Weenie makes the perfect lid colour in a glamour or spotlight eye.
Suprisingly, what seems like the most boring item from this Colourpop haul is the one I’ve ended up absolutely loving! The Best O liner is just perfect. It’s dark enough to use as a liner for the tightline, lower lash line or even for a winged liner. Yet it has a gorgeous deep purple tone that adds a bit of interest. I wear a lot of dark purples on my eyes, and this liner compliments them perfectly. It can be blended and smoked out, but once set, it doesn’t move. I would definitely try more of these! I’ve tried the Creme Gel Liner pots too, and they’re also amazing.
Overall, I was really happy with everything in my Colourpop haul! I spent a little more than I planned, what with the customs charge, but as I’m so pleased with all the products I don’t mind.
