I’ve actually had most of these makeup products since last year, but I recently picked up two liquid lipsticks as well, and they were so good for the price that I wanted to tell you about them! I’m actually really impressed with the Primark PS makeup range in general, especially given how cheap the products are. Of course, not everything is great, but there are definitely some stand-out products.
I’m also rather randomly including their makeup brush cleanser spray in this post too because it doesn’t warrant its own post but I really like it, so I wanted to tell you about it.
Primark PS – Super Matte Liquid Lipstick
These liquid lipsticks are the latest addition to my Primark makeup collection, and are what prompted me to write this post. I had no idea they had started making these, as due to being unwell, I don’t get to go out shopping often. I popped in for something after a hospital appointment recently, and there these were! I figured they’d probably be rubbish but for £2 I was willing to risk it! I grabbed the two lightest shades (02 on the left above, 01 on the right), as the only other shade in stock was a really dark red (and I’ve got enough reds to last a lifetime).
As you can see, they dry down totally matte (within about 20 seconds) and the colours come out pretty true to how they look in the tube. They were both wearable with one coat, although 01 needed a little bit of touching up to cover a few very light streaks (only really noticeable cuz I was scrutinising them)! They are obviously a bit drying on the lips, but almost all matte liquid lippies are – there’s not really much getting around it. However they feel comfortable enough and don’t make me want to run screaming to the nearest lipbalm! The first time I wore it, I kept it on for about 6 hours with no problem.
The wear time is great for both of these – they’ve lasted me through around 6-8 hours, including eating and drinking – that’s pretty impressive as I have much more expensive ones that don’t last as well! I’m super impressed and would recommend them. Perfect for people who aren’t sure if they like liquid lipsticks, as you can try one out without shelling out the usual £10 plus. I really hope they bring out a wider range of colours 🙂
EDITED TO ADD: I have since tried a few more and have discovered that the formula isn’t always consistent. A very dark red I tried was very patchy. Just be aware!
Primark PS – Lip Liner Pencils
Next up is the liners!
These are the products I’ve had the longest, and probably the ones most makeup-lovers already know about! The lip liners have been around for quite a while now. They have a really decent range of colours, covering most of the commonly worn lip colours (nude, red, pink, mauve etc). The liners themselves are so creamy and pigmented! Honestly, you have to try one to believe that these are so good for just £1 each! They are lovely as liners, but as they are so creamy and pigmented, they are also good for filling in the lips too and wearing as a matte-ish lip colour. I have worn the mauve (Dark Pink) and the Bright Pink ones for this quite a few times. You could even add lipbalm over for a satin finish, or gloss if you prefer a glossy lip.
Primark PS Love – Lipstick
I bought this lipstick not long after my first Primark lipliners, so I’ve had it for a while. The annoying thing is that it doesn’t show a shade on it anywhere! I don’t know whether this is something they’ve sorted out now. By looking at their website, I think it must be the one just called Pink, although it’s more of a pinky-mauve in person. The finish is a creamy-satin, and the lipstick is really nicely pigmented, although as you can tell, it’s a bit of an annoying shape at the tip. But at £1.50 each, it’s more than worth the money (some are also currently on offer at 80p)!
I know they have just brought out more lipsticks in their new Pro range, which are £3 each. There are also Long Lasting and Moisture Rich lipsticks which are £1.50.
Primark PS Love This – Makeup Brush Cleanser
As I mentioned, I’m also including the brush cleaner, as it’s really good value. At just £2, this brush spray can be used to clean your makeup brushes between each use. I spray some on a cotton pad and give my brushes a good clean after every use, then tend to do a proper brush wash around once a week. It’s just as effective as any of the more expensive ones I’ve tried and lasts ages (even with the amount of brushes I use per makeup look!!)
I also use Primark mascaras, but I am going to be reviewing those in a separate post, where I pit them against their Benefit counterparts! Stay tuned for that one. You can find all of these products in your local Primark store (but sadly not online).
