I heard of this cute little company on Twitter. Another blogger was discussing their summer mystery bags with them, and they seemed to have some really gorgeous items in stock. I jumped on the bandwagon and asked for one of the limited summer mystery bags. They cost £5, plus £2.50 p&p but in my opinion, the contents was worth much more.
Prairie Charms contacted me to ask what sort of things I liked. My answer? All things purple and sparkly, especially bows! They quickly replied saying they could definitely do that for me! Although this was a mystery bag, so I wasn’t choosing the contents, it was really nice to be able to give some input as to what I liked. It would be really disappointing if everything was a colour you hated or something, so I think it’s great that they asked me what I like before choosing the items.
Before I show you what came in the mystery bag, I’ll tell you a little more about the company. It was the first time I’d heard of them, so I went to their website to find out more. Prairie Charms describe themselves as “a completely handmade accessories boutique specialising in all things girly, floral, quirky and whimsical”. I was really pleased when I saw that 10% of all profit proceeds are donated to the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital Charity and the, ‘Kiss it Better Campaign,’ which provides funding to pioneering, world-class treatment for complex medical conditions including paedeatric cancers. I love ethical companies who like to give something back to the world, so this was really heartwarming to read.
Now onto the exciting bit! What was in my mystery bag? Well the parcel itself was quite exciting, as it arrived in a holographic silver bubble envelope… not often those come to my door! Here’s what was inside:
So much pink, purple and glitter! Happy days! Everything was so beautifully wrapped inside. I tore into it too quickly to take a photo, but the individual items were wrapped in little patterned paper bags with sticker fastenings and the hair accessories were on beautiful watercolour floral print backings. There was also a loyalty card included, with one stamp on, presumably from this purchase.
This is a roll of washi tape which says “U R Awesome”. As someone who loves writing to people and crafting in general, this is perfect! I love washi tape and frequently use it to seal envelopes. (Have you ever noticed how even though it’s their only purpose in life, envelopes never seal shut properly?!!)
Although it looks purple in this photo, this is a beautiful deep pink gem stone necklace. As I wear a lot of pink and purple, this will go with most of my wardrobe! I used to only wear silver jewellery (as in the chains etc) but I started liking gold stuff in the last couple of years so I’m really pleased with this.
I bet you haven’t seen one of these in a while! This is a scrunchie! Very 90’s but actually really pretty at the same time. I know very little about fashion but I’ve seen a lot of scrunchies around recently so I’m guessing they’ve made a comeback? This floral fabric is beautiful – very pretty!
This is a pink flower-style hair clip (a chrysanthemum? I’m sure my Mum would know!). I love channelling my inner hippy and wearing flowers in my hair. I actually have some clips similar to this but smaller, so I will definitely get use out of this. I would put my hair in a messy bun or up-do and clip this in to brighten up the look. This was a great choice for me!
This bow. This bow! Do you see how purple it is? Do you see how it sparkles? I just LOVE this hair bow! It makes me happy. I will wear it and pretend to be a fairy princess or a Disney character. I’m a big hair bow fan but this is probably my prettiest one yet. SO. HAPPY!
The last thing from the bag is a pack of retro diner style paper straws. They are so pretty and very Instagrammable – you can just imagine someone making a smoothie, pouring it into their glass Kilner jar or milk bottle and popping in this pretty straw, can’t you? Not saying that’s what I’ll be doing (my smoothies never look Insta-worthy!) but I’m pretty sure someone will.
On a serious note, I actually drink all my drinks at home out of those lidded Starbucks-style cold cups, as my hands are shaky (thanks ME/Fibro) and I have a tendency to drop everything. I have to use straws with those cups, so these will come in really handy and will pretty-up my drink!
Overall, I couldn’t be more pleased with my summer mystery bag and think it was £9.99 very well spent. Somehow, they’ve managed to pick out almost exactly what I would choose for myself! I will definitely go back and consider buying from them in future, and think their stuff would make really pretty gifts.
