Hey guys! If you’re into makeup, you’ll probably already know that Kat Von D Makeup is finally available here in the UK (about time!) Kat Von D Makeup stormed the makeup world in 2008, and has been raved about all over YouTube and beauty forums for the last few years. I’ve been dying to get my hands on some to try!
Getting Kat Von D Makeup in the UK
Kat Von D Makeup is now available to buy from Debenhams, in store or online. It is pretty pricey, but the general consensus is that it’s worth it for the quality of the products. I was a bit reluctant to shell out a lot of money for something I’ve never tried, until the perfect solution came along! Love Me Beauty celebrated the launch of Kat Von D Makeup in the UK by making mini KVD products available in one of their monthly bags. If you haven’t heard of Love Me Beauty, check out this post. Basically, they are a monthly beauty box (or bag!) but you choose all the products yourself.
There were other options available, but I decided to choose only Kat Von D Makeup products, as it was a bit of a rare chance to try them out. I chose the iconic Ink Liner in Trooper, an Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Outlaw, and a Studded Kiss Lipstick in Magick.
Ink Liner in Trooper
Ok, let me just start with a confession: I’m crap at liquid liner. A beauty blogger who’s crap at winged liner… shoot me! I rarely want to wear it anyway, as it doesn’t really suit my hooded eyes. But I’ve heard this one raved about, and everyone says how easy it is to use, so I thought it might be ‘the one’ that converts me!
It is a felt tip liner, and the end of the tip is really flexible, almost like a tiny brush. This makes it pretty easy to work with, as it glides easily over the lid. I did find this fairly easy to use, in terms of getting it in the right place and looking ok. It’s very pigmented, which is great.
However! There is so much product in there that it kind of floods out and runs into my actual eyes! I ended up having to take a cotton bud to my tear ducts, where it had all run and collected! Hopefully this will ease off as it gets used up and dries out a bit more. It also doesn’t last on my eyes too well. It was ok on the lids, but the wings went a bit crumbly and came off very easily. So a bit of a mixed bag for me.

Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Outlaw
I don’t tend to wear a lot of red on my lips, but this was the only colour available of the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks, and I really wanted to try one. Although I do like red, I tend to gravitate more to pinks and purples. I really wanted to see what the formula was like, as I’ve had my eye on a few of the other colours for a while (there are 26 shades).
Outlaw is described as a brick red, but I’d say it’s brighter than that – quite an orange toned red. The strangest thing is that mine has sort of gold reflects running through it. Once dried, it has a sheen of gold when it catches the light. I can’t see any mention of that anywhere else, so I don’t know if I got a bit of a one-off! Not complaining though, it’s very pretty 🙂 It is very pigmented.
Like most liquid lipsticks, this Kat Von D Makeup Everlasting one goes on nice and creamy, before setting to a matte finish. I find it takes quite a while to fully dry down, and lips can be a bit sticky for around half an hour. It claims to last for 24 hours, but god knows when I would ever test this (not with my ‘crazy’ spoonie life, spent mostly in bed haha)! They claim this formula is transfer-proof, which is pretty much true. After about 10 minutes, it gives the tiniest bit of transfer when pressed firmly against the back of my hand, but after about half an hour, nothing. This sucker will pretty much stick around through drinking and kissing, only needing a little repair if you eat oily foods.
The formula contains vitamin E and sunflower seed wax, and is paraben free. One thing I like about Kat Von D Makeup is that they do not test on animals. A large amount of their products are also vegan, which is great. After trying this, I’ll definitely go ahead and try the colours I had my eye on (Lolita, Vampira, Bow n Arrow… can you tell I like puples and mauves?)!

Studded Kiss Lipstick in Magick
How cute is this studded packaging? Apparently it was based on Kat’s signature studded cuff. It also smells amazing – like vanilla cupcakes! This range of lippies is available in an amazing 39 shades! I’m pretty impressed with how many shades are available, from standard reds and nudes to some lovely purples and even a teal!
It is a satin/cream finish, with the formula containing vitamins A, C and E. It’s a VERY comfortable formula on the lips (similar to Mac’s creme-sheens) but of course this means it doesn’t last too long. This isn’t surprising, as most lipsticks with this kind of formula disappear after eating and drinking and need re-applying. It’s easy enough to apply on the go, so this isn’t something that bothers me.
Magick is a nice pinky-nude, perfect for everyday or work. I don’t wear many cream/satin lipsticks these days, since matte liquid lipsticks became more popular. Saying that, sometimes you just need something easy and low maintenance that you don’t have to worry about crumbling! I’d definitely try more of these in the future.
