Hi guys! Hope you’re having a good day! I’ve discovered a lovely new skincare brand which I wanted to share with you. Dr Botanicals are a 100% natural skincare brand, who use no parabens. But even better than that, they are completely cruelty free! 🙂
I was very kindly sent these two products for review purposes, but as always, all opinions are honest and my own. I’m under no obligation to write about the products, I just happened to absolutely love them!
About Dr Botanicals
I hadn’t heard of Dr Botanicals until I was offered these skincare products to review. They are a pretty new company so far as I know, although they don’t actually say when they started on their website. They are based in London and aim to combine a passion for plant based traditional thinking and the latest science.Dr Botanicals use a lot of natural oils and plant extracts, as they believe they can make a genuine difference to the skin. I love that they use 100% totally natural ingredients. It’s so easy to claim to be a ‘natural’ brand but most don’t use entirely natural ingredients, as it can be more expensive and difficult to source. There are no parabens or harmful preservatives in any of the products.
My favourite aspect of Dr Botanicals is that they don’t ever test on animals – so, so many companies still do this and it’s really not necessary any more. I have been trying to buy more cruelty free products over the last couple of years, so I really appreciate it. They are also vegan certified, which is even better!
Dr Botanicals Moroccan Rose Natural Facial MoisturiserThis light moisturiser is formulated with Moroccan rose oil, vitamins and essential oils. Dr Botanicals claim it will repair, revive and boost the skin. Let’s hope so! Moroccan rose oil contains fatty acids which help to regenerate skin, reduce existing skin damage and also hydrate and firm the skin. It also contains Vit E and something called Alp Rose Stem…. Apparently that increases skin cell vitality and boosts epidermal regeneration!
The first thing that struck me was the smell – oh my days, both these products smell beautiful! It’s a bit like a really light, delicate Turkish Delight scent. It is just… yummy! Sorry, I’m crap at describing scents haha.
The moisturiser itself is almost a gel-cream texture, and is a bit whipped. It feels lovely and cool on the face and a small amount goes a long way. Seriously – you only need a really small amount to cover your whole face (which is lucky, as the products aren’t cheap!)
My skin is pretty bad at the moment. Since a few medication changes, I’ve had none stop spots all over my chin and some on my cheeks. I’ve really enjoyed using this moisturiser as it’s really light and not at all oily. I hate moisturisers that leave your skin with an oily sheen, and this really doesn’t. I can use it under makeup with no issues.
Overall Impression and Price
Overall, I LOVE this! It’s so nice to use and my skin seems to really like it. The only downside for me is affordability. Although I think the prices are probably justified because of the quality of the ingredients, I personally couldn’t afford to buy this regularly. I would probably repurchase it as a treat if I was given some birthday money though (I genuinely think skincare is worth investing in). This 50ml pot costs £91.50. Find it here.
Dr Botanicals Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial OilThis facial oil has the same gorgeous Turkish Delight scent as the moisturiser! Dr Botanicals claim the Superfood Oil is packed full of minerals and vitamins, all working together to rejuvenate, renew and protect skin. Rich in antioxidants and moisturising properties to keep your skin protected and hydrated when it needs it most.
The active ingredients are Vit C to stimulate collagen production; Vit A to rejuvenate skin and almond oil to deeply moisturise and nourish the skin.
I used to use an oil as part of my daily skincare routine, but stopped a while back as it seemed to get to heavy for me. My skin is quite oily, and although using oil can prevent the skin over-producing, sometimes I can’t use too heavy skincare products.
However! This oil is really different. It is so light on the skin, and just sinks in and disappears! It doesn’t claim to be a dry oil, but it seems to dry almost immediately on the skin. Superfood Oil doesn’t leave an oily, greasy residue. This means I LOVE it! I hate stuff that leaves an oily film on my skin. I could even use this facial oil in the morning, underneath makeup, which is a huge selling point for me!
Overall Impression and Price
This is probably the nicest facial oil I have ever tried – I absolutely love it! I think it would be nice for all skin types, but oily/combination skins will especially love it as it’s not too greasy/heavy.
This 30ml bottle costs £67. Find it here.
