Hi guys and dolls! How are you today? I hope you’re having a great day! Confession: I should have written this post about 3 weeks ago… It seems all my recent posts begin with the confessions of a bad blogger!! I’ve been quite poorly but the odd time I’ve had a better day, the light has been too bad to take the photos (I know, excuses excuses!) Anyway, we’re here now: and I’m going to tell you all about the gorgeous Dr Botanicals Cocoa Noir Time Reverse Facial Serum.
If you’ve read my blog before, you might know that I’m a Dr Botanicals ambassador! This means that they send me one product a month to review for you guys, free of charge. I’m not being paid for my reviews and all opinions are totally honest and completely my own!
About Dr Botanicals
Dr Botanicals are London-based, and aim to combine a passion for plant based traditional thinking and the latest science. They use a lot of natural oils and plant extracts, as they believe they can make a genuine difference to the skin. I love that they use 100% totally natural ingredients. There are many ‘natural’ brands, but most don’t use entirely natural ingredients, as it can be more expensive and difficult to source. There are no parabens or harmful preservatives in any of the products.
My favourite aspect of Dr Botanicals is that they don’t ever test on animals. They are also vegan and PETA certified, which is even better!
Dr Botanicals Cocoa Noir Time Reverse Facial Serum
Dr Botanicals chose this product for May as their theme for the month is “Dare to Bare”. It’s all about getting your skin in tip top condition, so you can be confident with wearing less makeup in the hot summer months. (Unless you prefer full makeup, like I often do – in which case, you go for it!!)
Dr Botanicals Cocoa Noir Time Reverse Facial Serum has been formulated to ensure the complexion is left youthful and nourished. If you want to wear less makeup in the summer months, or if you just want your skin looking as good as possible, this serum can help. It contains a blend of botanical active ingredients which help to balance the skin. Some of the active ingredients are:
Geranium Flower Oil: works to even skin tone and complexion, whilst firming and plumping the skin.
Seabuckthorn Fruit Oil: helps promote skin hydration for healthier looking skin.
Neroli Oil: aims to improve skin health, reducing uneven skin tone and visible blemishes.
My Overall Opinion
The first thing I noticed about this serum is the smell! It smells exactly like holidays – coconutty and sweet, reminding me of sitting on a beach applying suncream. The smell is right up my street!
If you applied the product without knowing anything about it, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was an oil rather than a serum. It applies much like a facial oil, with a little going a long way. My skin stays a little oily and tacky for about 20 minutes after applying, but then it does sink in. As I have oily/combination skin, I would only use this at night as it’d be too heavy for daytime. If you have dry skin, I imagine this would actually be really nice during the day. It would give you a lot of hydration and even a soft base for makeup application.
This facial serum is probably for you if you are concerned about fine lines and wrinkles, and want skin tightening and firming. If you are going to use it during the day, make sure you also use an SPF.
I personally really enjoy using this serum at night. Obviously I can’t say whether it has had an anti-ageing effect on my skin as these things take months to show. But it smells beautiful and is really enjoyable to use. Plus I wake up with nice, soft skin in the morning!
As I mentioned in my previous posts, the benefit of me being a Brand Ambassador is that I can get you guys some great discounts! Until the end of May, you can get Dr Botanicals Cocoa Noir Time Reverse Facial Serum for £19.99. That’s an insane saving of over £60 from it’s usual MSRP of £84.90!
