A few months ago, I remember seeing something similar to this picture I’ve made on Pinterest. I didn’t pay it much attention but do remember thinking it was a cute idea, and perfect for the wall around your makeup/vanity area. The one I saw was just one pair of lashes, but I liked the idea of three different pairs.
When I was in Wilkinsons recently and saw this white box frame, it popped back into my mind and I decided to give it a go!
I chose a simple white box frame which cost £4 from Wilkos. I can’t find the exact one online but this one is very similar. I already had the card in my craft kit. Finally, I found a selection of false lashes from Wilkos and the pound shop. I decided to go from a natural looking set, to a set with little diamantes on them and then finally to a very dramatic pair of lace lashes! The diamante and lace ones were just £1 each in the pound shop, you’d be surprised what you can find there!
Step 1: select a piece of card (whatever colour you want, depending where you want to hang your picture). I chose a simple pearlised white card, to fit in with the walls at my new house. Cut the card so that it fits neatly just inside the box frame.
Step 2: open up your eyelash boxes and remove all the lashes carefully, trying to keep them in shape. If they do bend out of shape, roll them gently between your thumb and index finger until they reform into the original shape.
Step 3: I would suggest laying your lashes out on the card to check they all fit, and how much space you need between each and around the edges. It’s easier to lay these down now and check, before you’ve added any glue!
Step 4: now it’s time to stick down your lashes! Because of the glue residue the lash bands already had on from being stuck in the packets, I actually didn’t need to add any glue to the first two pairs. For the larger, lace lashes, I added a little eyelash glue to the outer edges and a dot in the middle, to secure them in place. Leave them to dry into place before you put the frame back together.
And there you have your original beauty-inspired artwork! This cost me just £7 in total to make and I really like it. I know it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I think it’s quite cute and fun for my vanity area once we move to the new house.
