Hey guys!  How are you?  I hope you’re doing better than me!  My husband and I are both full of a rather nasty cold.  On top of that, my poor cat is on antibiotics and painkillers as she’s been bitten by a mean neighbouring cat!  You wait until I see that cat…!!  Joking.  Maybe.  I just wanted to share a post with you, which is a round-up of 200+ experts’ top skincare tips!

Experts’ Top Skincare Tips

Firstly, I’m definitely no expert but am very flattered to be included with others who are!  I have a big interest in skincare, as I’ve struggled with hormonal acne and acne scarring for many years.  When you’ve suffered with bad skin, you naturally start doing a lot of research, and trying anything you can to improve your skin!  I’m sure you know what I mean, if you’ve been in a similar position.

At the moment, my skin is at the best it has been in years.  This is thanks, in no small part, to a careful skincare routine and regular facials/LED treatments.

Treating Acne Scarring

I don’t have many active spots at the moment, which is pretty rare for me!  I do however have some areas of quite bad acne scarring, from having a break from the pill last year.  My hormones were unbalanced and my skin went to all hell!!  Damn hormones.

My skincare routine is focused around trying to fade the acne scarring at the moment.  I use a lot of acid/glycolic exfoliating toners, moisturising oils and LED treatments.  The Light Salon at Harvey Nichols in Leeds gave me a series of four LED facials, which were really helpful.  You can read all about it and my review here.

I was also kindly sent a TrulyClear home LED facial device (review here) which I’ve just started using on the acne/scarring setting so fingers crossed!  There is no quick fix to better skin, but staying consistent is the key.  I should hopefully see some decent results in a few months time if I stick to my routine.  Most of all, I want to prevent any more acne (hence stopping any more future acne scarring!)

What are your top skincare tips?  Do you have any star products that really help with your acne, or even just keep your clear skin looking good?  Let me know in the comments or on social media!  I need all the help I can get haha 😀

My skin is definitely not happy at the moment and breaking out a lot so trying to find the perfect combination for that. My only real go to acne product is black magic from one hand washed the other, though unfortunately it’s one that always seems to hit me with high customs fees so I always wait and buy a few. I’ve found a new mosituriser I’m trying from tk maxx as coming off the pill last year has really messed with how my old go to products work now. Will have to read that full article thing 🙂

It’s horrible going through a bad skin stage isn’t it? Really dents your self confidence! I’ve never heard of that brand or product. Sounds interesting! Ugh coming off the pill absolutely destroyed my skin, it was awful! Hope you can get yours sorted hun xx

    Hi,
I have a few zit and white heads scars on my face, because I have this crazy habit of squeezing them out, and I haven’t found anything that can actually remove them. I usually just do a lot of cleansing, moisturizing, face masks, and cover them up when I need to. Great article!

Hi Katie, thanks for your reply. It is a terrible habit I know, but when I am not doing anything, and then I look into the mirror and see those stubborn white/blackheads, I always try to squeeze them out. My husband usually freaks out everytime he see me doing that. I’m practicing self-control now, and I’ve talked to a Dermatologist about the scarring, but she said it ain’t that bad and treatments wouldn’t be necessary at this point but I just really have to stop touching my face. Geez, I don’t feel so grown up at all, haha!
