Hey guys! Another week, another nails of the day post 🙂 I like sharing my nails with you as it forces me to experiment and be a bit more creative. It’s all too easy to fall back on the same old favourites otherwise! Bear in mind that my nail art is never going to be amazing, as I have really shaky hands from my M.E. But I still have fun doing them, so I don’t mind if you don’t? I decided to try a bit of summery flower nail art today!
I did two base coats of Essie Urban Jungle. It’s an ideal base for nail art, as it’s a really neutral creamy-white shade. Off-white I guess! It actually looks really nice on its own, so I’ll have to wear it sometime soon.
I used a random little selection of brightly-coloured nail polishes to create the flower patterns. The minty-green colour is Pistachio Ice Cream from MUA. I also used a couple of mini polishes from a cheap set I’ve had a while, so they don’t have names on them. They are a bright orange and a deep pinky-purple.
I used my dotting tool (a little nail tool that has a sphere on the end) to add the centre dot of each flower. I added little dots in a circle around the central one, to give the look of a flower. Some came out neater than others, haha! Once those were done, I used a slightly smaller dotting tools to add little flowing lines from each flower. I guess they look a bit like stems, although that wasn’t the intention, I just liked the pattern! 🙂 On a few of the purple flowers, I over-dotted with the mint green to give a bit of depth.
Finally, I added one coat of Essence Holo Shimmer in Pixie Dust on each middle fingernail for a bit of shimmer! I also used Sally Hansen Mega Shine Glossy Top Coat to set everything in and prevent chipping. Make sure you do this once the actual nail art is dry, otherwise it smudges everything together!
Have you done any nail art? Leave me some simple ideas in the comments and I’ll give them a go!
