Ok, confession time… I have owned this Barry M Matte Topcoat for about 9 months and this is the first time I’ve actually used it! I don’t know why I kept forgetting but I rediscovered it this week and decided it was about time I gave it a go!
L-R: Barry M Matte Nail Paint / MUA ‘Pistachio Ice Cream’ / Maybelline Color Show Crystallize ‘Light Up’.
Although the MUA Pistachio Ice Cream is much more of a spring/summer shade, I thought that adding silver glitter would give it a wintery, Frozen type vibe. I was just having a play around really, but ended up really liking the finished look!
I used two coats of MUA’s Pistachio Ice Cream (these bottles look identical to Essie polishes!) Once touch-dry, I added one coat of Barry M Matte Nail Paint. I then covered the top half of each ring finger with Maybelline Crystallize silver glitter in Light Up. I almost always do an accent nail on my ring finger, as I really like the way it looks, but have never done just half a nail of glitter before. I quite like it!
The only down side of using the matte nail polish is that it cheaps very quickly and easily. This only lasted around a day before chipping. I’ll definitely use it again though, to see what other looks I can create. I might try doing normal glossy nails with a matte ring finger next time!
