Essie Leggy Legend and Essie Frock n Roll Fall 2015 Collection Nail Polishes

Nails of the Day (NOTD) // Essie Leggy Legend (Bronze) and Frock ‘n Roll (Black)

Hi guys!

It’s been a while since my last nails of the day post, hasn’t it?  I was doing them once a week up until recently!  I haven’t been too well and have been concentrating on hospital appointments etc, so my nails have gone a bit by the wayside (ie chipped or plain!)

Since I hadn’t worn any polish for a little bit, I decided to come back with a bang and choose two strong colours.  They might seem a strange choice for Spring, but here in the UK it’s still really cold and we’re even having the odd bit of snow, so my bright varnishes are on hold until it warms back up!

Essie – Leggy Legend and Frock ‘n Roll

The two nail polishes I used were both mini ones, from Essie’s Fall 2015 collection.  The bronze, Leggy Legend, is a foiled liquid metal finish.  The black one, Frock ‘n Roll, is described on their site as a shimmering rich espresso, but it definitely comes out black (with silver reflects) for me!

I found them both a bit thick and gloopy, which made application a bit harder – as you can tell, they’re quite messy.  To be fair, they are from the Fall 2015 collection but I picked them up in TK Maxx a few weeks ago, so they are probably quite old by now!  I’ve used other Essie polishes in the past and not noticed that problem.

As you can see, this was a very simple manicure – I just used two coats of the bronze on all but my ring fingers.  On the ring fingers, I used two coats of the black polish.  One coat was fairly opaque but a second was needed to even out a few streaks.  I used my usual Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Base Coat and a coat of Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Topcoat.

I did leave them to dry for quite a while before I touched anything, but unfortunately two of the bronze nails smudged straight away.  I think they took much longer to dry than normal, probably due to the thickness of the formula.  Apart from that, they actually lasted really well before chipping – I think around 5 days, which is great for regular nail polish!  You can find them to buy here.

What do you think of these colours?  Do you use Essie polishes; and if so, how do you find the formula?  Let me know in the comments!
