Welcome to my review of my fourth You Beauty subscription box. In case you have read my other posts, I won’t go into too much detail about the subscription and how it all works, but everything can be found in my March post.
The contents of this box were a little bit different to normal, including food and drink, which I quite liked as a change! Here’s what I got:
Inika Truly Organic Pure Primer
This was one of the two items I chose myself. This is an organic facial skin primer which offers protection and hydration to your skin. You apply it before your makeup, as per most primers. It claims to nourish your skin and extend the wear of your makeup. As I already have a primer open, I haven’t tested this one yet, but I’m looking forward to trying it. At £29.50 for the full size though, it’s unlikely that I would actually purchase this!

Crown Brush C436 Mini Duo Fibre Blender Brush
This was the second item I chose myself. It uses the latest popular technology – duo fibre. It has a short, dense head which is nice and soft. It is intended for use with liquid, cream or powder base products (foundation and concealer) and also to blend out contour and highlight.
Unfortunately, the information leaflet says this brush is a mix of goat hair and synthetic… as a vegetarian and cruelty-free lover, I was really disappointed by this. I wasn’t sure if that meant it wasn’t cruelty free so I did a bit of research. There is a lot of mixed information out there! Some say that goats are simply shorn, and not hurt in the process. Some say it is a side-product of the fur industry. Sadly, as I cannot be sure this brush is cruelty-free, I will probably have to give it away to someone. Incidentally though, at over £7, this product alone makes up for the price of the box!

Urban Fruit Strawberry Snack Pack
It was nice to get a food item – and something vegetarian and fairly healthy. This is a single-serving snack pack of ‘gently baked’ strawberries. There are no added sugars or preservatives, just strawberries and a dash of apple juice.
This pack contains 102 calories, perfect for a snack to keep you going but not pile on the pounds! The sugar levels are obviously quite high, but they are natural fruit sugars rather than added.
I really enjoyed these – they taste a bit like strawberry jam, and definitely curb a sweet craving! Something I would definitely purchase in the future.

Clipper Tea Bags
I received two Clipper tea bags – organic green tea, and organic red fruits & aronia berry. I don’t drink green tea (I just can’t stand the taste!) but my husband does so it won’t go to waste! I will enjoy the fruit tea bag, as I frequently drink fruit teas. It is also caffeine free, so good for drinking in the evening. Clipper do not bleach their tea bags, which is great because it is totally unnecessary and just exposes to more chemicals!
There’s not much else to say about these, but it’s nice to try a taste of a different type of tea, without the commitment of buying a whole box in case you don’t like it.
Good To Go Anywhere – Wipe Trio
This is a handy little pack of essentials which you can slip in your handbag for on the go. It contains a sanitising wet wipe, a dry tissue and a cleansing wipe. They are all flushable. Although there is only one of each, so it’s a fairly small sample, this will come in really handy on my many trips to hospital, where I usually drench myself in sanitising gel, haha! Given the cheapness of the You Beauty box, I wouldn’t expect to receive anything bigger anyway.

Overall, I really enjoyed this box. It was nice to have something a bit different – we still received two beauty samples, but also some food, drink and something useful. I thought it made a nice combination. As always with this box, it was great value for money.
What do you think of what I received this month? Have you tried any of the products? Do you have any more information on the cruelty status of goat hair brushes?
