I promised I’d be back with lots of new posts now that my blog is back up and running, so here I am! I want to share what I got in the May 2016 You Beauty subscription box. As I mentioned in this post, because of my nightmare blog migration, you’ve no doubt already seen some of the May boxes reviewed, so I’m not going to do my usual full review. Instead I’m just going to ‘unbox’ with you and show you what I got! If you’re new to the You Beauty Box, you can find out about how the subscription works, how you can choose some of your own samples and the price in my post here.
Everything in this Cult Beauty Edit box has been selected for its ‘targeted approach to the colourful world of beauty’; with the products being popular, but less ordinary. Ready for a nosey?
May 2016 You Beauty Subscription Box!
This lipstick is so pretty! I love getting lip products in my beauty boxes as they’re basically my kryptonite… this probably isn’t one I’d have bought myself as I tend to go for less sheer, more matte ones but I actually really like it! It’s very low maintenance (you can just keep topping up, no need to remove it and re-apply) and leaves my lips really soft as it’s really moisturising. This is one of the two products I chose myself.
As I mentioned, I picked the Revlon lippie as one of my chosen products. My second one was the L’Occitane perfume. If you’re a regular reader, you might be wondering why I chose a perfume…! I swear I’m not that fussy with scents, but I think I’ve only ever had one half decent perfume sample in a beauty box. They always seem to be really old-fashioned, and make me smell like someone’s gran!
The Vert & Bigarade has citrus top notes (sweet and bitter orange), green tea and yerba mate heart notes and then base notes of cedar, thyme and musk. It’s not a bad scent, but I should have done my research first! It’s apparenty a unisex scent, and I can definitely tell. I tend to find any unisex smells too ‘manly’ for me. No judgment on anyone else, I just don’t feel right in them at all. I would probably think it smelt okay on someone else, but it’s definitely not one for me. Maybe I’ll palm it off on the hubby…!
The Anne Semonin £15 gift card was quite exciting, until I went on the website and realised how much all the products are!! I’m not against investing in decent skincare, but I don’t really need anything at the moment, so I didn’t want to spend a load of money on top of the gift card, just for the sake of it. Trust me, if you don’t want to spend anything extra, all you can get are these samples Just put 3 lots in the basket and it totals the £15. It says on the website, but you then have to email them to choose which samples you would like. I’ve mainly gone for face masks, with a few SPF creams thrown in for the summer!
Although I didn’t like the perfume I’ll enjoy everything else, and once again for £6.95 I still think it’s amazing value for money! I would expect to pay that for the lipstick alone. I’ll just have to learn my lesson and not choose the perfume samples in future! 🙂
