As I mentioned in this post, there was some confusion with my new subscription to Glossybox, which my husband bought me for Christmas. I received my first box last week and just assumed it was the January box but after a few comments from readers, it seemed like that might not be the case. Well, the case is finally solved as I just received my actual January box yesterday. Which is pretty cool as it means I got an additional welcome box too, but sorry for any confusion if you read that post! I have gone back and edited it now.
If you’re not a regular reader, I’ll quickly go over how Glossybox works. It’s a monthly beauty subscription box, so you sign up for 3, 6 or 12 months to get one box per month. The box will include five samples/products – they are always a surprise, as you don’t choose what you receive. The box costs £13.25 per month for the month-to-month plan, but can be as little as £11.75 if you are willing to commit for a whole year. If you decide to sign up, you can use this link which will help me collect points but there is absolutely no pressure to use it. If you would prefer not to, simply google Glossybox and sign up there!
So here’s what came in my January box!
Yes! I love face masks so I’m always happy to try a new one – and a really generous size as well! This herbal based mask claims to care for and protect your skin, and is also ideal for sensitive skin.
Directions are to apply once a week onto a cleansed face, leave on for ten minutes and then wash off. The mask itself is a clear gel consistency, so it’s really nice and cooling on your skin. It also won’t stain your flannels when you’re removing it! Love it.
Funnily enough I had never heard of this brand before until I received this primer. Apparently the brand hails from Sweden. So in the space of a week I now own two of their products! I’m really happy to have a makeup product, as sometimes beauty boxes get a bit heavy on the skincare.
This huge blusher/bronzer hybrid (or as Glossybox say, ‘blunzer’!) adds warm to your complexion and lightly contours for a subtle effect (in theory). Honestly, I’m not a huge fan as I’m so pale that even a small amount isn’t that subtle on my skin! I’ll give it another go in summer though, as then it won’t stand out on my pasty skin as much haha. I hope I get to like it, as it’s a really generous size and looks nice in the pan.
Another new-to-me brand. This clinically proved serum combines cell-repairing biocomplex, alongside revitalising birch juice, and claims to plump skin and boost hydration/radiance. I love serums and use them every day. I’m not loyal to any particular serum so I’m happy to keep trying new ones.
It is a creamy serum as opposed to a clear one (I usually prefer clear ones as they tend to be less oily), but feels nice on the skin. It has a very light, subtle herbal scent.
Ooh I was happy to see this! I received a Teeez red lipstick in my You Beauty Advent Calendar and really like it. I love their funky, distinctive packaging and it looks great on your makeup vanity. I’m also really glad this is matte, as the other one is glossy and I’m more into matte lips at the moment.
It is a nice, bright coral shade (not as vivid as it shows up in the tube) and glides on easily. Although it is matte, it’s not too drying. I like!
I remember the Glossybox own brand things from when I used to subscribe a year or two ago. I usually really liked them, and this is no exception! Look at that colour, it’s perfect! It is a super dusty, greyish-mauve. I have green/hazel eyes and purple goes well with them so this is a fab shade for me.
You can see I’ve swatched it on the paper next to the eyeshadow, but obviously it will be stronger and more opaque on my eyes. Love this and can’t wait to use it for a mauve smokey-eye!
So what do you think of the actual January Glossybox? Sorry for any confusion caused by my original post! Let me know what you think of this box in the comments.
