Hey guys! I’m a little more on time with my July You Beauty Box unboxing – hooray! Glossybox will be coming soon too – check me out, I’m on a roll 😀
The July You Beauty Box theme is ‘The Jet Set Edit’! Of course, all the beauty boxes are focusing on summer, sun and holidays at the moment. Bit depressing for me as I’m too poorly to go away on holiday, so cross your fingers for some UK sun for me!
You Beauty Box is a monthly subscription beauty box. You select two products yourself, from a shortlist. You Beauty then add in two more ‘bonus’ products – all subscribers get the same. These may be accessories, hair/makeup/beauty products or a “healthy treat”. The box is just £6.95 including postage, which I think is fantastic value for money. It’s the cheapest box I’ve personally seen on the market.
They also now offer the option of choosing 3 products (plus the bonus treats) for £8.95 or 4 products for £10.95. You can find out more, or subscribe here.
July You Beauty Box – Unboxing
My Two Chosen Products
I was so excited to see one of my favourite brands in this month’s selection list! White Rabbit Skincare are a lovely, vegan brand which I discovered a couple of years ago. The owner, Melanie, is based in Scotland and puts so much love and care into her products. She started off as a really small company, so I’m really happy for her that she’s now appearing in beauty boxes! Their Comfort Cleansing Balm is my all-time favourite cleanser.
I chose the Lime & Coconut Cleansing Water, as I’d used it before and know I like it. It’s a water cleanser (think similar to micellar water in consistency). You simply pop some on a cotton pad and sweep all over your face. It is safe to use around your eyes, to remove eye makeup. The cleanser smells SO NICE – like fresh lime juice! All White Rabbit Skincare products are vegetarian/vegan, cruelty-free and she uses recyclable packaging. 10 out of 10 for me!
This might seem a bit of a random choice, but I struggled to find things I wanted out of the July You Beauty Box selection. Usually there are plenty of things I’d like but not so much this month. I didn’t want any of the skincare as my skin hasn’t been great recently, so I’m keeping to quite a strict selection of products. There was a perfume, but I know I quite often don’t like fragrance samples so this seemed a safe bet!
I use tons of lipbalm as I always have dry lips, so I know this will get used. I really like Carmex lipbalms – they’re one of the few brands that seem to actually improve dry lips instead of just mask the problem. Their cherry lipbalm is one of my favourites! This peach & mango flavour is lovely – it smells really tropical. In fact it really reminds me of Umbongo drink 😀 Nothing much more to say about this except it’s lovely!
The Two ‘Bonus’ Products
It’s summer. All the beauty boxes are including tanning products. I’m very pale, but I don’t ever tan anymore so I’m always very grumpy when summer comes around and I get more tanning products! Haha. I also got the exact same product in July 2015 from You Beauty. I would generally prefer products not to be repeated, but I’m sure a lot of people will enjoy it so won’t mind.
St Tropez In Shower Tanning Lotion has been around for just over a year and has had mixed reviews. You are meant to apply it in the shower (whilst your skin is still wet, but with the shower turned off). You wait for 3 minutes and then rinse it off. The idea is that it gradually builds up to a subtle tan, if you apply frequently. A lot of people have said that in reality, standing in a cold, wet shower for 3 minutes is a bit off-putting! I received the Medium shade, but I know they also do a Light one.
We also received a £2 off voucher to buy the product in Boots. I’ll probably be giving my lotion and voucher to a friend, but it’s not a reflection on the product. As I said, I just don’t use tanning products!
You’ve probably already worked out how much I like White Rabbit Skincare by now! Safe to say, I was pretty excited to get this £10 gift card. They are a brand I would be re-purchasing from anyway, so £10 towards my next purchase is fab. There is no minimum spend, which is great as you don’t have to spend money you didn’t really plan to just for the sake of using the gift card. The gift cards can be used up to 30 September 2016, although mine has been used already haha! I’ve chosen the Orange Blossom & Aloe Vera Toner, as I haven’t tried it yet.
I feel like I say this every month, but the July You Beauty Box was yet again worth SO much more than the £6.95 we pay as subscribers. They always hit it out of the park with value for money, which is impressive as the cheapest beauty box on the market. I won’t use the tanning product, but I still got more than my money’s worth so that isn’t a problem.
What did you think of the July You Beauty Box? Have you tried any of the products? Let me know in the comments!
